Worldview Through PPE – The Afghanistan Crisis

There are myriads of events that have shaped the world in multitudinal ways.  Through this series, we will abstract these events and explore it through the lens of PPE.

We are enthralled to inaugurate this series with Professor Amitabh Mattoo. The talk will discuss various nuances of the current Afghanistan crisis through a Philosophical, Political, and Economic lens revolving around the political, economic, and global implications of the present-day situation in Afghanistan.

The esteemed professor is one of India’s leading writers and thinkers of International Relations. He is currently a Professor of Disarmament Studies at the Centre for International Politics, Organisation, and Disarmament at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is also honorary Director of [email protected] and honorary Professor in the Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne.

He has previously also served as the director of the Afghanistan India Foundation, a trust fund set up by the Governments of India and Afghanistan which finances projects aimed at fostering India-Afghanistan relations through enhancement of economic, scientific, educational, technical as well as cultural cooperation. Professor Mattoo has also extensively researched and written about Indo-Afghan Relations.

Recognising his contribution to education and public life, Professor Mattoo was awarded the Padma Shri in 2008. We at the PPE Society are very honoured to host an intellectual of such dignity.
